Call UsGynecological Concerns
- Conservative Treatment of Stress Urinary Incontinence
- Common doesn’t mean acceptable. Loss of urine with coughing, sneezing, jumping or running may happen to many women but you don’t have to be one of them. Dr. Nascu has years of experience in evaluation and treatment of SUI and she will be able to direct you to the most appropriate path for your situation – may it be physiotherapy, vaginal laser or refer you for surgery.
- Vaginal Dryness/Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause
- As women transition into the second half of their life lack of estrogen may affect the thickness of the vaginal wall and the amount of moisture it produces. Dryness can lead to discomfort, burning and pain with sexual activity. One common and effective treatment prescribed by physicians is vaginal estrogen tablets. If you have contraindications to estrogen or you prefer a non-hormonal approach consider vaginal laser treatments. This virtually painless procedure performed in the office without anesthesia can restore better function and health to menopausal women. This is a particularly useful treatment for women who have a history of breast cancer or who undergo removal of the ovaries at a young age.
- Labiaplasty for Labia Minora Hypertrophy
-
Each woman’s body is unique in its own beauty. Sometimes the size of la labia minora, though considered normal, can have a negative impact on the woman’s physical
and/or sexual activity. Pain and swelling may develop with biking, walking or wearing tight clothes. Dr. Nascu has a deep understanding and a gentle non-judgemental
approach perfectly suited for this intimate concern. She has performed labiaplasty surgeries for over 15 years. Whether you were born this way or your anatomy
changed after having babies, she will listen to you, perform a thorough evaluation and recommend the best course of management.
Please take note that Dr. Nascu will not perform this procedure for purely cosmetic reasons and the cost of surgery is not covered by OHIP.
- Innovative Treatment for Lichen Sclerosus
- A common but rarely recognized condition, lichen sclerosus mainly affects postmenopausal women leading to changes in vulvar architecture. Small, shiny, and smooth white patches appear on the skin. These patches can become bigger and the skin may become thin and wrinkled. The skin may tear easily, causing large bruises (which may be red or purple) to appear. Itching is very common. So are scarring, bleeding, or blistering. The standard treatment for this condition is local application of a strong anti-inflammatory ointment, but some women who do not respond well to this therapy have tried newer and more innovative solutions like laser therapy and platelet-rich plasma injections. Though there is no known cure, the disease can be managed. Contact us if you would like more information on the treatments we provide.
- IUDs
- Intrauterine devices (IUDs) are one of the most effective reversible contraception options. They are now designed to also lighten up the menstrual period to the point of some women not having any bleeding at all. If your doctor has recommended that you have an IUD inserted for either contraception or period control, please ask them to send us a referral. Dr. Nascu and Marie will make sure you are as comfortable as possible and we will book your procedure within a month.
